Today 15 of us made our way to the Black River near Onaway, Michigan. Joining me this trip was Gary, Lynn, Jeff, Jo, Jim, Jason, Becky, Brock, Haley, Jeff, Linda, Ted, Ashley and Bridget. Each of us had a kayak except for Brock and Haley who shared a canoe. Six of us kayaked down the Black River near Onaway MI today. I was joined by Gary, Jerry, Zach,  Julian and my father, Jim. We chose a spot down river from where we entered the river last year. We launched from the bridge on County Road 638 then proceeded down stream to the Tower Pond. I received permission yesterday from a local resident to use his property to exit the pond when we arrived. There is no public access at the pond otherwise. We are gathering for our 6th year reunion here at the Clear Lake State Park in Atlanta, MI. Terri and I have been looking forward to this trip all summer. We brought our kayaks up to the lake this weekend but the weather didn’t want to cooperate. The temperatures were cold and the winds were high. The good thing was that the weather was also keeping the power boats off the lake as well. Some of the big boats don’t have a whole lot of respect for us little guys. Two years ago I canoed down Thunder Bay River for the first time, so I was excited to return and give it a try with my kayak. We started out at the Thunder Bay Canoe & Kayak Livery in Atlanta, Michigan. This time around we arrived with 11 other people.
