On our way home from the State Park, my wife and I decided that we just weren’t ready to go home yet. We headed to Outdoor Adventures Saginaw Bay Resort to extend our camping trip for another week. You can’t really call it prolonging our vacation since we will both be returning to work, but it will be better than returning home to all of the chores that need to be done around the house.
We tried to make a reservation at the resort ahead of time only to find out that no one was available to take our call. The message on the machine stated that they would be closed for the next 4 days. We then chose to go directly to the park. At the gate we were greeted by a friendly security guard. He told us to not worry and call the office when it opened on Tuesday.
After backing the RV into a campsite, I headed to the store to register our arrival with the clerk. This is where things got nasty. The woman was very short and abrupt with me when I explained that I had no reservation. She informed me that I was not allowed to enter the park. I am not sure if this is truly the policy or if she was just having a bad hair day. I can’t believe for as many times as the reservation office is unavailable that they will not let you into the park without calling first. After all, the park was not even close to being full. Any way you look at it the woman could have been a little more polite. Maybe I am expecting too much after spending the last week with the super nice people at Clear Lake State Park. I turned up my charm a little and tried to convince her to let me stay. Guess I got lucky cause it worked.
