Petoskey State Park

Petoskey State ParkWe have visited this state park in the past but never actually stayed here. What a mistake. After camping here for almost a week, this place has quickly become one of our favorite parks in Michigan.

The park offers 20/30 amp electrical with some 50 amp sites. The sites are good sized, mostly shaded and some are even paved. You have easy access to the Little Traverse Bay beach which is on Lake Michigan.

Since we now have bicycles, we were glad to see access to the Little Traverse Wheelway from within the park. This trail gave us miles of pleasure as we rode along the shoreline. On one of our morning bike rides, we spotted an eagle soaring just above our heads as we cruised the trail. It was pretty cool.

Along the beach, you will find a variety of stones washed up along the shore. You may even spot a Petoskey Stone. At night the beach provided some spectacular sunsets.

We had this trip planned for quite some time. Between the time we booked the site and actually arrived, we were lucky enough to get ahold of a couple of tickets to see Bob Seger in concert. This was an opportunity that we were not going to pass up. The downside was that the concert was back home. This meant that we had a 3 hour trip to and from the concert that night. In hindsight, it was well worth the trip. The concert was simply awesome!
