Today Terri and I were joined by Jim, Gary, Jeff, Linda, Jerry and Ellen. We all took an early morning trip down the Rifle River. We started out at 7AM. We joined Jeff and Linda today to take a leisurely trip down the Rifle River. The water level was down a little bit compared to the last time we we on it. This made for a little bit of scraping and some hard paddling at times. About midway through the trip we encountered a young deer along side of the river. Friday we all gathered to head out for a kayak trip down the Muskegon River. When we arrived at the river Gary found a feather and stuck it in my cap. I called it “Macaroni”. This is our first trip down the Rifle River. We put the kayaks in at Moffatt Bridge. We then traveled down the river to the Outdoor Adventures Rifle River Resort. The resort is located at the Melita Road Bridge. The river where we launched our boats is about 50 feet wide. The water is 1 to 2 feet deep at this point. Several places along the way during our trip were shallow enough to cause our kayaks to drag bottom. However, at no point did we need to get out …
