Traverse City State Park

We have been coming to Traverse City for many years now, but this is our first time at the State Park.  This park is located along US-31 and has a beach on Grand Traverse Bay just on the other side of the road. The beach is really nice.

The park was pretty much empty upon our arrival. We chose a site that my parents had been in last year and raved about. It is one of only a few sites that allow you a view of the bay. This site happens to have the strangest pine tree growing on it.

During our stay I have had steaks from both Boones Long Lake Inn and Mode’s Bum Steer. Strangely enough, neither of which is anything to write home about. We enjoyed an excellent Wet Burrito and Quesadilla from Bubba’s. Terri and I also stopped by Ham Bonz for our usual pulled pork sandwich.

We tried a new sandwich this trip. It was from Willie’s Rear. As humorous as it sounds the sandwich, called the Willie’s Special, was really quite good.

On this mini vacation we both enjoyed sitting on the beach and strolling along the down town sidewalk. Only 2 things would have may our trip any better. First the mosquitoes were as thick as fog. Not just at night, but also during the day. Second were the colds that we both ended up with. Nothing is worse than being on vacation and ending up sick.

The photo below shows a good idea if you only have motorhome and need to make sure that when you return from town that nobody is camping in your spot.
