I will have to admit that I didn’t expect much from this place. I did’t even think that anyone would be here when we arrived. To my surprise there were already a dozen or so campers at the Showboat Park Campground in Chesaning, Michigan when we pulled in to the place. After setting up camp and looking around I said to Terri ” this is a really nice little place to get away for the weekend.”
We originally decided to come to the Showboat because it is locaed directly on the Shiawassee River. This makes for a convenient place to pull the kayaks out of the river after a trip. There is a boat ramp for easy access to the river.
The park offers 70 sites with electricity. The campsites are quite close together, yet due to the number of visitors there are plenty of empty spaces between campers. We had a picnic table and a fire pit.
Showboat Park has bathrooms and showers. There is a dump station. It has a playground, volleyball court, basketball court, disc golf and picnic pavilions. There is also softball diamonds which were full of people when we arrived here.
I will enjoy coming back to the place.
