Outdoor Adventures- Saginaw Bay Resort

July 19th, 2007 No comments

We decided to return to this park for our 10-day summer vacation. I had to work a few days this week and this park is not too far away for me to commute.

Upon arriving, we were lucky enough to find that the spot we wanted was available. This was the same one my brother-in-law had last week and seemed to be very nice. It was Thursday night and the park was pretty much full when we got there.

We had a little visitor come to our trailer. He stayed for most of the night, right there on our front step.

Saturday, we noticed a couple vacating a site across the road from us. This site, unlike ours, had a sewer connection as well as electric and water. We thought that it would be a good idea to move considering our extended stay. The site was on the end of a loop under a large maple tree. We have since determined this site to be one of the finest in the park.

That same night the park has a pig roast. There are only a few of them throughout the season. We were lucky enough to be here during one of them. It was an excellent meal and I would highly recommend attending if you get the opportunity.

This week has been a challenge. I am recovering from kidney stone surgery and this place was just what I needed to relax. Kidney stones are the most painful thing that I have experienced and anything I can do to take my mind off the pain is just what the doctor ordered.

Prevent TV Antenna Damage

Prevent TV Antenna Damage

Tim R. Enright

One of the most likely parts of your RV to get damaged by accident is your TV antenna. It is out of sight and out of mind. It is just too easy to get in your RV and drive away while forgetting to lower your antenna. In doing so, you will be handing it over to the first available low hanging tree limb or power wire.

A very common practice to remind you that your antenna is still in the raised position is to place a clothespin or piece of ribbon on the crank handle. When you raise the TV antenna, take the clothespin or ribbon and go put it on the steering wheel. That way, the next time you are traveling down the road with a clothespin on your wheel, you will know that the next stop you should be looking for is a RV parts dealer to purchase a new RV antenna.

RV Blogs

Tim R. Enright

Blogs are extremely popular these days. A blog (short for web log) is a type of online diary or journal. It is often used to track current events. A blog can contain pictures and articles and links just like websites. The events are presented in chronological order with the latest being displayed first.

Blogs are often used by RVers to track places and events that they visit. This is the perfect tool for anyone who wants to keep track of the history of their travels. A blog can be used to record campground details, special events, places you visit or people you meet along the way.

One of the nicest things about an RV blog is the fact that the information posted by more experienced RVers can be used by those newer to RVing. This information can be quite valuable. When it comes to RVing, there is a lot of knowledge to be had from those who have been doing it for years. Most RVers are more than happy to help out whenever they can.

Blogs can be a lot of fun. It can also be a great tool to use to record your most precious moments. So join the RV bloggers out there and start blogging. You will be glad you did.

Secure Your Fifth Wheel Hitch

Secure Your Fifth Wheel Hitch

Tim R. Enright

If you have a fifth wheel trailer and want a way to secure it while you are away, then check this out. Purchase a chain with links just large enough to get a pad lock into them. Make sure it is long enough to wrap around the hitch pin a couple of times. Make sure you get one made of a material that is rust resistant. Now after wrapping the hitch pin with your chain, just secure it with a pad lock.

But then again there is another solution. They do make a device created specifically for this purpose. It is called a King Pin Lock.

Outdoor Adventures – Wilderness Resort

July 6th, 2007 No comments

This weekend we decided to try the Outdoor Adventures Wilderness Park. It is located in Omer, Michigan.

We have heard that not as many people tend to go here, as compared to the Saginaw Bay Park. It typically has a much more peaceful setting. This weekend was the exception. It had a full house. But, then again it happened to be the end of a holiday week.

We were impressed by how clean the outdoor pool was. We did not get a chance to use it however; as it was closed for cleaning on the one opportunity we had to swim.
