Pettit Park

May 29th, 2006 No comments

We relocated from Black Creek to Pettit Park to finish up our Memorial Day weekend adventure.  We will now be able to run our air conditioner throughout the night without using the generator.

amish-buggy On the last day of our stay an Amish buggy pulled into the park. The people came to the park to have a picnic next to the river.

Black Creek State Forest Camp Ground

May 25th, 2006 No comments

Black Creek State Forest Campground is located near Sanford, MI. We went there again, this time for the Memorial Day Weekend. Due to the holiday the rangers came around regularly to check on the place. Local youth came thru the camp every night selling firewood.  I thought this was a real good idea since firewood is such a problem due to the Emerald Ash Bore situation.

The weather was hot for this time of year. We did not stay for the entire weekend for this reason. We packed up and relocated to a spot with electricity so we could run the air-conditioning.

Grand Traverse RV Park

Grand Traverse RV Park is just outside of Traverse City, MI. This is a privately owned RV community, where you can buy your own lot.  Some of the lots are available for rent.  The lots are extremely well groomed and landscaped.  The following amenities are available at each site:  water, electric, sewer, cable, Wi-Fi, trash pickup and propane tank refill.  The resort offers a pool, hot tub, laundry facilities, and hotel style shower/restrooms.  This resort is adjacent to the Grand Traverse Golf Course.

I would also like to wish my wife a “Happy Anniversary” today.

Mitchell State Park

This state park is located in Cadillac, MI on a canal between Lake Mitchell and Lake Cadillac.  It has mostly wooded sites that include electric hook ups.  A few sites are located along the Lake Cadillac beach.  Several sites also adjoin the canal which connects the two lakes.  These sites are quite convenient for those wishing to fish.   We stayed here in the early spring on our way to Traverse City and were one of only three units in the park.

We ate a place called Timbers. We were both quite hungry and anything would have worked. This place was so good that I would go back even when I am not starving.

Au Gres City Park

May 5th, 2006 No comments

Once again we are camping at the Au Gres City Park. We returned to this park because it is not to far from where we live. We enjoy the location and the small town of Au Gres, Michigan. We have been here before and have yet to see anyone in the office.  When no one is working in the office, you can self register to get a site.  A very nice place to eat called H&H Bakery and Resturant is located nearby. This place has a nice home-cookin’ selection of menu items.

The park was quiet due to the early season. Once again we got a river site. We do wish that our cell phones would work a little better. You need to stand on one leg with your thumb on your nose to get a signal.
